This drill is not to be taken lightly. It weighs a lot, and using it is a weighty decision: do you really need to risk spraining your wrist for that hole, or could you use a smaller drill? The chuck on this thing can hold up to ¾-inch (20mm) shafts. That’s bigger than most drill presses, and it’s hard for me to imagine anyone being able to hand-hold a tool against a twisting force large enough to actually require a ¾-inch chuck. |

A beam auger is meant to be sat on to hold it down on a beam laid flat, but I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t also be clamped or screwed onto a vertical beam. |
