I’m surprised no one has used this in a horror movie. It’s a gas-powered hand saw with huge scary teeth. It was one of several tools used to cut up logs before the introduction of the chainsaw, which has since completely taken over the job of being a big scary hand-held saw (including in horror movies). |
This is perhaps the most ridiculous saw I own. It’s powered by a small gasoline engine that sits on the ground. A flexible shaft transfers the power to a rubber drive wheel that spins a ring-shaped saw blade (like a circular saw, but with everything in the middle missing). These things didn’t last long after the invention of the chainsaw. |
This is the closest thing to an “electric hand saw” I’ve seen. It even says “powered handsaw” right on the side, and the blade is nearly identical to a typical hand saw. |
You use a buzz saw to cut logs with a bit more precision than a chainsaw (or if chainsaws haven’t been invented yet). The L-shaped table in front tilts back as the cut progresses. They are also convenient for cutting heads off fully wrapped bodies, but this is considered a misuse of the tool. |
Do you have a better example of this kind of tool? Let me know by leaving a comment, and include a picture of it if you can so everyone can see!
