You use a buzz saw to cut logs with a bit more precision than a chainsaw (or if chainsaws haven’t been invented yet). The L-shaped table in front tilts back as the cut progresses. They are also convenient for cutting heads off fully wrapped bodies, but this is considered a misuse of the tool.
