I showed this to my construction worker friend and he agrees it’s probably a good thing to give to the new guy as a joke. It’s a slide hammer with a socket that accepts standard jackhammer bits. You pull the heavy handle up and then slam it down into the body of the tool, giving a kick to the bit. I can only imagine how sore I’d be after breaking up even a small amount of concrete with this medieval torture device. |
Hot riveting is done using a pneumatic hammer with a cup-shaped end that forges the head of the rivet. A second hammer, or when possible a brace wedged against another part of the structure, pushes the rivet from the other side. I wish you could hold this tool. It’s just so, so very solid. |
C-frames can be used to hold riveting guns when fastening things small enough to bring into the shop. |
Small air hammers can take a variety of different chisels and tips for chipping concrete or brick, breaking off bolt heads, etc. They look like drills, but don’t turn. |
Do you have a better example of this kind of tool? Let me know by leaving a comment, and include a picture of it if you can so everyone can see!
