This is an absolutely lovely antique puller is designed for small nails and tacks. |
This slide hammer has a sliding weight, a rod it can travel on, and a variety of adapter plates for attaching the rod to things that need pull-hammering. |
This is the fanciest form of nail puller. It combines a lever-action pincer to grab the head of the nail with a slide hammer to dig the claw down into the wood if the nail head is submerged. |
A cheap steel nail puller can be very effective for smaller nails. The V-shaped notch is beveled to help it slip under the head of the nail. |
Nail Puller |
This upgraded nail puller has a hammering surface for getting to deep nails, and a wide, polished side that can be used to pry apart two boards, potentially pulling the nail through or out with little damage. |
Pulley Remover-Installer |
This miniature gear puller is supposedly for lifting up the edges of an ingrown toenail and keeping them elevated for a while. How you are supposed to do anything with this thing clamped to your toe I do not know. |
Gear pullers are like presses in reverse: they pull instead of pushing. To get a stubborn gear or pulley off its shaft, you hook the three jaws around the outside of the gear, then tighten the rod in the center against the shaft. Keep tightening and with luck the shaft will be pushed through the hole in the gear. |
