• Manual Pantograph

• Pantographs can be used to scale a drawing up or down.

• This large square bolt on my pantograph milling machine is so tight I have not as yet been able to loosen it.

• To use a manual pantograph you need templates to run the stylus through. These beautiful old brass letters contain a complete Gothic alphabet. Cheaper plastic letter sets have plain letters in different sizes.

• This is a much more reasonable pantograph engraving machine. It’s not nearly as strong as the monster on the left. It couldn’t cut deep grooves in metal, for example. But for engraving wood or bi-color plastic signs, it’s perfect. I spent many, many hours using this machine to engrave all the wooden tiles in my periodic table table (a table in the shape of the periodic table of the elements).
